Soccer coach launched weekly yoga for all players

Rockford Guilford soccer coach Hugh Ward launched a weekly yoga classes for all his players recently to improve their strength and flexibility.

“We felt that the players needed more flexibility,” Ward said. “We don’t have the time at training sessions to stretch them out properly, so it made sense to set up the stretching classes.”

Senior midfielder Roberto Guzman has been impressed by the benefits, which include increased speed, less fatigue and loosened hamstring muscles.

Ward said the players weren’t sure what the sessions were going to be all about initially, but they have all embraced it.

International Yoga Festival

The event on international yoga festival is happening from March 1 – 7, 2007 in Rishikesh,

India.More than 350 students, from countries all over the world are expected to be there.Classes on various kind of branded yoga available by many of the yoga teachers will be

taught. Classes in Kundalini Yoga,Hatha yoga , Reiki, Pranayama, Power Yoga, Yoga Nidra,Pranic Healing, music therapy, yoga therapy, Nada yoga, and so much more. There are also classes offered in Vedic Astrology, Nadi yoga, Kriya yoga and more. And then there are the lectures and satsangs with so called revered saints.

There will also be a question-answer session with orange clothed Saints and Yogi’s from different parts of India.

The city rishikesh is on bank of sacred river Ganges,where you wash away all of your sins.Quite interesting that means you may go out and do sins and come here and washed away your sins.So if you believe in this concept this could be idea reason to visit the holy city.

Computer related health problems solved the yoga way

As per one study conducted at Swami Vivekananda Yoga Research Foundation, Bangalore,
practicing yoga can help you overcome computer related health problems.
Under the study, various aspects like visual strain, visual perception, musculoskeletal performance and mental stress were studied.

The study was conducted on software professionals selected randomly. They were divided into Yoga group comprising of 62 professionals and control group comprising of 55.

The yoga group practiced special yoga practices for an hour daily.The hour long yoga practices included asanas (physical postures) with emphasis on breathing,
Pranayama(regulated breathing practices), joint loosening postures, tratak (eye exercises)and relaxation techniques.

At the same time, the control group spent the time in non-regulated recreation activities like working out in the gymnasium or sitting in the cafeteria, according to individual’s preference.

After a span of two months, the yoga group showed significant reduction in symptoms of visual strain, whereas there was an increase in same in the control group.


Computer related stress caused due inability to cope with the technology demands and
aggravated by rapid pace of work, deadlines, and general work pressure was reduced in the yoga group.
